America’s Music Series – Hymns from the 1860s On hammered dulcimer, flutes and other acoustic instruments, Timothy Seaman explores the extensive popular hymn output of the decade 150 years ago, when so many were searching for comfort from the trials and tribulations of the Civil War. From William Bradbury, George Root, the shape-note book New Harp of Columbia, William Doane, Robert Lowry and others, including such new hits of the time as “He Leadeth Me”, “Near the Cross”, “Immortal, Invisible” as well as rare gems. 1 hour.  Free with museum admission.
